The main use of polyether polyols is in polyurethane foams. Flexible foams are used primarily in cushioning applications such as furniture, bedding and automotive seating, as well as carpet padding. The largest consumer of rigid foam is the construction industry, where it is used primarily for insulation. Rigid foams are also used in commercial refrigeration and packaging. Minor uses of polyether polyols include elastomers, adhesives and sealants, surface coatings and polyurethane fibers.
Performance and Application
1. As a low-foam detergent or defoamer
L61 and L64 are used to prepare low-foaming, detergency synthetic detergents;
L61 is used as a defoamer in the papermaking or fermentation industry;
2. Polyether has very low toxicity and is often used as a pharmaceutical excipient and emulsifier; it is often used in oral administration, nasal spray, eye use, ear drops and shampoo.
3. Polyether is an effective wetting agent and can be used for dyeing, photographic development and acidification of fabrics. Sugar factories use F68, which can get more water due to the increased water permeability.
4. Polyether is used as a dispersant in latex coatings. L62 and L64 can be used as pesticide emulsifiers, as coolants and lubricants in metal cutting and grinding, and as a lubricant when vulcanizing rubber.
5. Polyether can be used as a crude oil demulsifier, while L64 can effectively prevent the formation of hard scale in oil pipelines and be used for the recovery of secondary oil.
